Our goal is to inspire and equip people who don't know and love Jesus to become people who know and love Jesus! Then we want to help new believers become disciples, disciples become disciplemakers and disciplemakers become leaders.

Step 1 – Let’s get to know each other

One of our Elders or ministers will be exited to meet you and share a little about the NCCOC and what we believe about God's Plan for abundant life.  They are not going to push you, they just want to be available to help you connect with Jesus, the Church and God’s mission at a pace that you’re comfortable with.  They will give you their contact information so you can reach out when you are ready to: learn more about becoming a Christian, be baptized or take Step 2 and Join the Community.  You can email the church office to schedule a personal Step One.

Step 2 – Join the Community

If you feel like God is calling you to make the NCCOC your church family, reach out to one of our Elders, ministers or email the church office and let us know that you are ready to take Step 2.  You will really enjoy this Step!  We will set up a couple lunch or dinner meetings with individual elders who will share with you our core values, the ABC’s of being part of our community and what it means to be a disciple of Jesus.

Step 3 – Join a Family

It is easy to feel alone in a crowd.  Our goal is for every member of the NCCOC to be part of a spiritual family where you build deep relationships with Christ and each other.  There are multiple types of families (small groups) at the NCCOC: discipleship groups, groups of individuals or families that meet in homes, men’s groups, women’s groups, service groups, individuals that share a common interest, etc.  You may have to try a few groups before you connect with your family.  When you are ready, tell a member of our leadership team that you want to take Step 3.

Step 4 - Join the Mission

We believe EVERY MEMBER IS A MINISTER, blessed with unique talents that God can use to invite people into a relationship with Him.  When God calls you to use your talent to lead a discipleship group, join an existing ministry or start something new; we will be ready to help you take Step 4.

God's Plan

God reveals His plan on the very first page of the Bible:

So God created human beings in His own image.
In the image of God, He created them; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them and said, “Be fruitful and multiply.  Fill the earth…”
- Genesis 1:27-28

That’s the plan, look like God and fill the earth with people that look like God.  In His teachings and His actions, Jesus showed the world what it means to look like God.

“The Son (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.”- Colossians 1:15

In Matthew 28:19-20 Jesus shared God’s plan this way:

Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely, I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

dis·ci·ple
/dəˈsīpəl/
noun - one who accepts and assists in spreading the doctrines of another

A disciple is a follower of Jesus who learns, accepts and obeys His teachings and commits to sharing those teachings with others. Jesus’ command is God’s plan: be disciples who make disciples who make disciples.

Be Disciples

Surrender to Christ - Be Born into a New Life

A disciple of Christ has had an authentic conversion experience where they abandoned a life without Christ, put their trust in and confessed Christ, were baptized, and made a commitment to live faithful to Him from that point forward.

Submit to Christ’s teaching - Live Right with God and People

A disciple will commit to righteous and holy living — a holy life committed to Christ rather than the desires of the world — and they will seek to practice Jesus’ ethics of love, mercy, and justice in all their relationships. They will develop a rich prayer life, a lifestyle of repentance and confession, and a love for the world.

Support Christ’s People - Grow with Other Believers

A disciple will be immersed in the life of the church, living in covenant with other believers, worshiping with them, serving with them, loving them, supporting them, and being accountable to them.

Serve Christ’s Ministry - Do Good Works

A disciple will be active in ministry, finding passion and joy through serving others as Jesus did, cultivating a life of service.

Share Christ - Make Disciples

A disciple will bring others to Jesus.  Following Jesus means doing what Jesus did, and He made disciples. They will find others who need to be discipled and committing themselves to the life-long process of making disciples through relationship with others.
